"Artichokes" Donated to Lyme Foundation's "Dart for Art" 2014

Picture
Picture
Dart for Art 2014 Date March 7, 2014
6:30 pm - 10:00 pm Location The Masonic Center
145 Park Rd
Burlingame, California 94010 Dart for Art is not an auction and not your typical cocktail party. Here’s how it works; as guests arrive each couple or single will be assigned numbers which will be used for the “Dart”. Guests will stroll through the gallery enjoying cocktails and meeting the artists, and previewing the various works of art. After a brief introduction the fun will begin. The numbers will be randomly pulled. As your number is called you are invited to Dart for your favorite piece of art. Dart for Art is a wonderful opportunity to obtain original art and have a good time doing it, all while supporting LymeLight Foundation. Dart for Art is an evening filled with fun, energy, and excitement!

"Captive" has been accepted...

My photographic piece "Captive" has been accepted into the CWA Show "Bound" Catalog.  The show will be held in New York City in February.  The show was judged by one of the curator's of the MOMA, New York City.  I am so looking forward to entering more shows with hopes of being accepted!

Giving "Freedom" to Seniors:

It has been an exciting time for Margo who is bringing the Village Green Seniors bi-monthly Watercolor Classes.  Seniors with different levels of abilities and talent, as well as goals join Margo twice a month to find their "Freedom" in creativity with watercolors.   Wet on wet, dry on wet, dry on dry and subject matter of their choices set the path for each person to find their own "voice".  I try to keep the rules out of the picture and instead, have each person play with the medium and experiment.

The pictures are beautiful!  I hope to post some examples of their work soon, until then they will continue to learn and create in their own style!

Book Illustration...

This is exciting news... I have been asked to illustrate a book!!!  As soon as it is in print - YOU will be the 1st to know - Can't wait!  It is based on the 15th Century fighting manuals - but this has a very popular twist... It is being written by Sir Steaphen Fick, a renown European Martial Artist, and author.

My watercolor creations have been focused on private collection requests lately, but that's not to say that  I haven't been creating other art.  I am working on computer art which has been fun, creative, and surprising! I am working on a new technique (haven't quite figured it out yet) but my works will be posted as soon as they are ready.  More juried art shows are on the horizon as well as in-house creations to "find" my voice!  It's definitely an uphill journey - but things are definitely progressing!Other than artwork, I have been in Southern California decorating a condo - on a budget! (before & after pictures available soon).

Hope to see you soon!

Life is Just a Bowl of Cherries!

Picture
This painting was completed as a "homework" assignment by my mentors
Duncan Simmons and Keiko Yasuoka, of Houston, Texas.

These amazing artists took the time to give me this lesson in photo-realism painting that boggles my mind!  It is as if I was given the key to a treasure trove of information as it billowed out of the cupboard of life and spilled at my feet.

I cannot thank Duncan and Keiko enough for this AMAZING lesson!  Their work is as incredible as they are.  You can find them at:   www.2collaboratingartists.com

A San Francisco Show: Man as object

Picture
This is a very personal piece of artwork. "The Upper Hand" stems from the unfortunate abuse that women receive on the subways of New York City, and I am sure of other large metropolis communities.  In this show, appropriately called "Reversing the Gaze" allowed me to return the embarrassment to those men that enjoy groping women inappropriately in public.  Women DO have the Upper Hand!

It is an honor to be included in the Catalog of the Women's Caucus of the Arts.  The Gallery Show opens November 4, 2011 in San Francisco.

The Women's Caucus for Art (WCA) is the leading national organization for women in the visual arts professions. Founded in 1972, it has 27 chapters across the country and is an affiliate society of the College Art Association. WCA is dedicated to the cultural, aesthetic and economic value of women’s art. If you are not already a member, we invite you to join a WCA chapter so you can participate in an activist community of women artists. Visit www.nationalwca.org for more information.
